About POCS
Welcome to the POCS – Prabasi Odia Cultural Society, Chennai.
The Prabasi Odia Cultural Society (POCS) is a non-profit socio-cultural organization that brings together Odia families and individuals residing in Chennai and across Tamil Nadu.
Founded in 2008 by a group of like-minded Odias with a vision to stay connected to their roots, POCS has grown into a vibrant community that celebrates the rich traditions, culture, and values of Odisha while embracing the spirit of Chennai.
Over the years, the society has become a hub for fostering unity, cultural exchange, and social bonding. From celebrating major Odia festivals and organizing cultural evenings, food festivals, and community get-togethers, POCS has been instrumental in keeping the Odia heritage alive for the younger generation.
Beyond festivals and celebrations, POCS also focuses on community service, educational initiatives, and charitable activities, creating a sense of belonging and giving back to society. It is a platform where Odias away from home can find comfort, companionship, and cultural pride.
Whether you are new to Chennai or have been living here for years, POCS welcomes you to become a part of our growing family and join us in carrying forward the Odia spirit with joy, unity, and pride.
Follow us, support our events, and stay in touch with your kind suggestions.

Ama Chatasali
A Home for Odia Language and Culture Beyond Borders We are proud to introduce Ama Chatasali, a dedicated educational initiative created with love and purpose for our Prabasi Odia children—those living away from Odisha but deeply connected to its soul. At Ama Chatasali, we believe that language is more than just words—it’s a bridge to heritage, identity, and belonging. Through our carefully designed programs, we teach the Odia language to children growing up outside Odisha, helping them speak, read, and write with confidence and pride. But our mission goes beyond language. We immerse our students in the rich culture, timeless traditions, and core values of Odisha. From folk tales and festivals to classical dance, music, and rituals, every lesson is a step toward keeping our roots alive across generations. This is not a one-time effort—it’s a continuous journey of nurturing identity, fostering pride, and building a vibrant community that celebrates Odisha wherever we are in the world. Join us in this beautiful movement. Let’s ensure our children grow up knowing not just where they live, but where they truly belong. Ama Chatasali – Where Odia hearts beat across borders.
